The word Advent means “coming” or “arrival.” It marks the beginning of the Christian year. It is a season of hopeful waiting for the Messiah. In the early Church, Advent joined the celebration of Christ’s first coming with preparation for new believers entering the faith through baptism.
Today, Advent reflects the Church’s posture as we await Christ’s return. Like Israel before us, we live in exile, longing for our ultimate redemption. In this season, we look back in celebration of Christ’s birth and forward in expectation of his kingdom. Advent calls us to active, hopeful and prayerful waiting, trusting God’s faithfulness and rejoicing in the arrival of our King.

This December, we invite you to join us in a daily Advent Devotional created by Langham Partnership. Hard copies will be available in the lobby (one per family, please), but if you would like to receive a daily email subscribe below!
