See the Fields - Short Term Projects

What did Jesus see? What did the disciples see? Often, like the disciples in John 4, we get so caught up in the routines and needs of our own lives that our eyes become blind to the fields ripe for harvest in our city and around the world. What would help you to see as Jesus sees? A short-term mission? Seeking to understand the world beyond the headline news? Reading a missions book, periodical, missionary biography? Correspond with an overseas missionary? Pray for God to open your eyes.

An easy first step would be to attend a Rivendell party.* As Redeemer's "weary adventurers" are welcomed home from short and long term missions, their friends host parties where stories are told, songs are sung and eyes are opened to "see the fields". Rivendell parties are for any and all who need encouragement or simply want to hear about what God is doing through ordinary people in other parts of the world.

A second step would be to go yourself to see firsthand God's work among the nations.  Contact Scott Steele, BTN committee chairman for information on current short term opportunities.

*Rivendell is the "Last Homely House," described by J.R.R. Tolkien in The Lord of the Rings as a place of refreshing for weary adventurers. It is "a perfect house, whether you like food or sleep or story-telling or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all. Merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear, and sadness."
