Church Planting at Redeemer As individuals, churches, and presbyteries we are committed to the spread of the Gospel. What does this have to do with church planting? Everything. One of the most effective ways to reach people with the Gospel is to plant new churches. On average church plants have three times the number of adult conversions as other congregations. As churches are planted, the sending and ministering base of the church is increased, so that more people can be reached throughout the world. Thus we follow Jesus' pattern of discipleship and growth by multiplication rather than mere addition. For more information on PCA expansion visit: www.pcanet.org/mna As a church we are committed to planting new congregations. During our twenty plus year history we have planted a number of churches. The first was Grace Presbyterian in Kernersville, then Hope Presbyterian Church in 1998. In March of 1999 New Hope, a church plant in the Lewisville/Clemmons area was started. In 2000 Redeemer sent former pastor Rick Downs to Christ the King Presbyterian Church, in Cambridge, Massachusetts; an established church, desiring to become a multicultural blend of Brazilian and North American peoples. In the fall of 2002 Redeemer started a new Sunday evening worship hour at 5PM which over time has taken on a unique ancient/postmodern style based on God's leading. We've sent off former college minister (now Pastor) Greg Farrand to Spring Garden Community Church in urban Greensboro and Howie Burkhalter former executive pastor from Redeemer to plant Summer Oaks Community Church in the Northwest Suburbs. Former Redeemer staffer Steve Angle has been sent to our neighboring suburb of Waughtown to develop Southside Community Church building upon mercy ministry in that community. Clint Dowda, former assistant pastor at Redeemer moved in 2005 to Richmond to plant Grace Community Church. How can I help? Know someone who wants to be a church planter send them our way to join our intern program, to be prayed for, or to be supported locally in our Presbytery. Maybe you live or have thoughts of living nearby to one of our daughter churches or a new church plant; If so you should consider joining in with these others who have acted on a vision of neighborhood churches reaching neighborhoods. Contact Rob Alexander, Administrative Pastor for more information.
